Is 4 motorcycle cops with radar guns hiding in the bushes law enforcement or tax collecting?

I can ask the same thing about building and safety dumpster hunting and code enforcement measuring shrubs and such.

    This is called Law Enforcement.

Every person they write a ticket to during that enforcement period will be thinking twice the next time the drive through there and will slow down. If they don’t, they deserve another ticket.

Even people who don’t get ticketed will see the people who did and watch their speed more closely.

I know it’s become popular amongst bad drivers to blame law enforcement for stepping up their enforcement activities. But does the fact that you got away with it for any length of time make the law-breakers any less wrong when they do get caught?

    Law enforcement
You think a $200 fine really does much for a government?

  • Ted Sheckler:

    Little of both.

You know you’re breaking the law when you speed, and someone has to pay their wages.

People who get upset about speeding tickets are the same people that will throw a fit when the cops search them and find drugs. They think they’re lawyers when they get into trouble.

    Traffic Law Enforcement.

The city they work for only gets about 1% of the total fine.

If people are speeding past four motorcycle cops with radar guns hiding in the bushes, then that’s law enforcement.

The cops in the bushes may be hiding, but the speed limit signs are posted clearly on the side of the road. The speed limit sign is enough to let you know that you’re breaking the law if you go even one mile per hour above that limit. If you go past that limit, you know what you’re doing and you know you’re risking getting a ticket.

    Extortion.
