motorcycle radar detectors???????????????????
do they make these and if so where to buy???
because no one likes speeding fines…
as a reply to jon…
any specific one you would recommend? i dont really want to have to wire anything to the bikes electrical system or to the helmet.
what should I expect from these tickets?
I’m 17 and i have my car and motorcycle permits. I was riding with my friend (also on a permit) on our bikes and we were going 60 in a 55 and i passed him just as a sheriff got me on radar at 79 mph, i don’t believe i was going that fast but that’s what the ticket reads. i got one ticket for being an unlicensed operator and another for 79 in a 55 while my friend got one for unlicensed operator. i want to know what should i expect for fines and what will happen with my permits, and also will it affect me getting my drivers license?
What is the biggest disaprity between speed limit and clocked speed ever for a speeding ticket?
That you ever heard of…like 150 in 55 would be a 95mph difference, etc.
The reason I ask is that once (years ago) in H.S. I got clocked on my ported and chambered Kawasaki H2-750 doing 141 in a 45 (Don’t worry it was a deserted country road frequented by racers with no intersections so I wasn’t putting anyone in danger…except myself of course..lol) while racing another motorcycle…the other guy turned off a side road after we were done racing and i continued straight and ran into the cops who had by then (seeing 141mph and 125mph on their radar and hearing my H2 screaming) had setup a road block…I thought I was going to get a huge ticket but after much discussions among themselves and bringing in what I took was a shift commander they decided since one the bikes they were clocking got away they couldn’t prove which one I was…I figured they’d just give me the 125 mph ticket but they decided they couldn’t for some reason…so after a stern talking to I went on my way…141mph in a 45 clocked on radar and I walked (well rode)…lol

What do people think of the new unconstitutional ruling about street racing/speeding?
my man was recently stopped for speed racing (on the court form) and speeding (on the traffic ticket issued at the same time) and had his motorcycle put "in jail" by the traffic cop and his license suspended for 7 days.
The lady cop told him that if one goes 50km above the speed limit, (which he wasn’t, she didn’t didn’t show him the radar gun readingand it was impossible for the bike to accelerate that quickly in the time frame she said), one is charged with street racing, which has now been deemed "unconstitutional’ in Ontario traffic law.
He has to go to court later in october and the charge will be dismissed although folks are still being charged, having their vehicles and licenses taken away and having to pay the "storage fees’ of having their vehicle in jail at 68.00 per day for 7 days with a 5 minute pick up time, and 150.00 to unsuspend one’s license.
Has anyone here in Ontario had the same experience?
thoughts?
I meant STUNT RIDING.
Yeah ok.
What the thing was.
he wasn’t going 50km above the speed limit.
We SAW the speedometer.
he was going 20 km above, (Not good, I know) however, she charged him with going 50km ABOve, which wasn’t possible considering the properties of the bike. the bike doesn’t have a fareing. There’s no way he could have been doing 150km in a period of 4 seconds.
it was physically impossible for the bike to go that fast.
There were 4 other bikes that were speeding next to us…..anyway, if anyone actually wants TO READ the entire post, (I know it’s looong), I’d REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
Demos.
Thank you!
You were the only one who actually read my question and Yes, just today, courts found that Stunt racing, (I was so excited in writing, i left important details out), had been ruled unconstitutional due to the drivers inability to defend themselves in Ontario courts.
Kinda like here when not one but you will actually look objectively at the facts before judging.
It will be thrown out of court, however the fees incurred by having the bike in jail and the reinstating of the licence is a money grab by the police affiliated vehicle jails under the guise of "towing companies".
Again, you’d make a good lawyer.
In California can a policeman hide off his vehicle behind another vehicle with a radar gun and ticket people?
i was driving home from school going 33 in a 25 residential area. on ticket it says 43, but its wrong. anyways. i was driving down a hill at a speed of 33. and i drove down to the bottom to take a right. just then i saw a cop walk out from behind a pickup truck with a radar gun and he came up to me and showed me i was going 43. which is bull sh&*. then i looked down the street and saw two cop motorcycle bikes. I was not the only person he got. It was ridiculous. I’m pretty sure you can’t hide behind a pickup. Imagine if you were going 33 and a cop jumped out of a bush. with a radar gun and wrote you a ticket. Any clarification would help. I’m thinking about contesting this ticket, and if you find clarification please show me where it came from.
ok listen. first off
1.none of you people have shown your sources
2. hammer your an idiot i was going 33, do you understand radar guns, when you go downhill they dont take in the angle, so it appears your going faster
3. some of you idiots just post something to get points without actually looking for the correct information, so good job those of you who take yahoo answers seriously!
4. the least imformative answer helped more then the rest
Myself and 3 fellow motorcycle riders were pulled over for “speeding” in Ca. We later found that only 1 of us
was actually "ladared" which is a lazer radar. The chp told me that only one of us was clocked, the other 3 were estimated. He was not pacing us since he and the other officers were on the side of the road in your typical speed trap. Heres my question, other than the actual clocked rider do any of us have a chance of beating the ticket being that it was a visual estimation from almost a football field away. I asked him this and he said "you were riding together therefore you MUST HAVE all been doing the same speed"So in other words, mine and the other 2 riders had assumed visual estimation of our speed. Now any other motorcycle rider reading this will know that at any given time one of us may drop back and slow down or speed up up to 20 MPH higher or lower in a matter of seconds, due to the nature and power of the bikes I dont see it fair at all that unless we are all literally attached that we are always going the same speed. The ticket was noted as 49 in a 35.
Thanks for all the answers. One of my buddies actually did ask about the calibration thing and he said ladar didnt require that? Im not sure if thats true, but I did ask 3 separate times to have it notated on the ticket that only one bike was clocked and the other 3 were estimated. There were 3 officers writing us tickets, and the officer that was writing mine said there wasnt room on the ticket to write all that, and he showed me that theres not much room there, but he did say that he would out it in the "notes" So I hope theres additional info that they write up, and that that info was put there. I did plan on showing up, and hopefully he wont show up. I read in another posting that you can ask that the fine be reduced and that they normally will. So at the very least showing up may save me a few bucks, and thankfully I havent had a ticket in years so I will be eligible for traffic school. So Ill take care of that online like I Have in the past. Thanks for all the answers and God Bless
Do Orange County motorcycle-cops have bult-in radard guns on their bikes?
OK, I was pulled over at 8:00 AM a couple of weeks ago by a motorcycle cop and got a ticket for speeding on Moulton Pkwy in Aliso Viejo, CA.
I see there is always 2 motorcycle cops parked with their radar guns pointing at the traffic coming from the opposite direction I drive to, so I am careful and never had a problem in the 2 yrs I’ve lived there, until the day I got pulled over.
I was driving on Moulton Pkwy towards La Paz and I see 2 motorcycle cops driving their bikes, but they were not behind me, they were coming from the opposite side of the road. Also, it was not like they were parked and waiting for someone to be pulled over, they were not even holding their radar guns at me, they just doing that, driving their bikes on the opposite side (which is separatedby a boulevard).
I was totally shocked when I saw one of the motorcycle cops make a U turn to turn around to come after me to pull me over for SPEEDING?? The cop seemed to be in a very good mood, he was just laughing the whole time… I even had to ask him "officer, could you please tell me what I did wrong?" Of corse, his answer was "you were speeding"…he gave me the ticket and left.
When I read the ticket, I see he wrote down the radar’s Serial Number, WTF?? He was not pointing a freaking radar gun at me! Do their bikes have built-in radar guns?? What are my chances of winning in court?
How can I wire my iphone 3g to my motorcycle?
I’m trying not to use a cig lighter cuz I already have my radar plugged in, im gonna use the same 12v to power both. Could I use a cigarette lighter and open it, and somehow directly wire it, is it hard? I couldn’t find any hardwire cables for the iphone. I have a zr7s 2002
My radar is wired directly positive and negative to the bikes 12v wire. its not hooked up via a lighter.
