the cop was writing another person a ticket and his motorcycle was behind the car.. i was coming down hill on a curved road and he said he caught me on radar. He wasn’t even situated on his bike when i passed him. he was standing behind the other car infront of his motorcycle. He then said he caught me on radar and that i didn’t evn sound like i was going speed limit.

So i wanted to get his citation record to show that he was pulling someone else over at the time. Can i get that in discovery? if so How can i word it in the discovery request?

I.E.- A copy of the officer’s citation record on the date of ##/##/##?

Will that work? ^

i got a "speeding ticket" by going 50 on the street. i know i wasn’t going 50 so after showing insurance and stuff i asked the cop to show me the radar gun. he said ok but never did. i want to fight this ticket but i don’t think i will win because its his word against mine. but i heard that they cant give you a ticket using the radar gun unless there is a sign posted somewhere saying radar enforced or something. Is that true? I always see the cops in motorcycles on that street all the time and ive never seen a sign. and by the way this is in california.

I need help. I was pulled over by an officer on a motorcycle. That time i was making a left turn and i was shifting from gear 2 to gear 3 on my prelude. from gear 2 the rpm was in 4500-5000. i saw a police officer on my right side maybe 50 ft ahead. he was going to make a right turn. so once i got up to 4500-5000, the cop seen me. i shifted gear, and next thing i know blue and red lights begin to flash. OK here is the info. i was doing around 53 MPH!!! he put 60+ on my ticket. and he made me sign it. he didnt ask me to sign it. he informed me that i have to sign. So i did, and i went on. The area i was doing 53 in, was a 45mph area. HE DIDNT HAVE A RADAR. He asked me my approximate speed, i told him around 45-50. He told me Bull Shit and gave me a ticket. He told me if i told him the truth, i would get away with it. I have the court in January 2009. I am hoping for some advices please! What is the best way to contest my speeding ticket in the court?

Well, I was not really paying attention and I was supposibly going 85 in a 50mph zone..Even I was shocked when the cop on the motorcycle told me how fast I was going, I was about to ask to see his radar gun but I didnt, I think i was only going 73mph or so…Anyways this was my first offence, Im 17 years old, and I recieved a rediculous 6 fine and 6 points off my license…The car is under my parents insurance, so are they stuck with the increase when I buy my own plan or am I? When do the points get removed from my license? I live in Wisconsin if this helps

I just got a radar detector. It is a Whistler. I have read conflicting information in regard as to where to place it. Some say to place it high on the windshield and others say to place it on the dash board to make it able to detect lasers better. (Lasers are usually aimed at the front license plate area). Also, if i get pulled over (they are legal in my state), will the cop give me a ticket or something if its on? I have read that a lot of people said on their K1 systems they use the remote to shut it off if they get pulled over. Do you hide it even though it isnt illegal? Thanks!

A couple of motorcycle cops sit at a Lowe’s parking entrance and run radar down a long stretch of service road that dumps into town (city limits)
Then, the cops step out in front of the speeder and tell them to pull over!

I did not get pulled over but was amazed the police would literally take that chance to step out into traffic.

So, if the cop turns into a speed bump, who is at fault?

i got a ticket for racing on highways in florida … i was on a motorcycle the cop told me that he did not radar me but still gave me a ticket max sentance is 1 year in jail… how can he give me a racing ticket if i wasnt speeding ??

well what happened was i got pulled over by an officer on a motorcycle and when he walked over to me i asked why i was pulled over. the cop then told me that i was speeding and that he clocked me going 90 mph on his radar. long story short i didn’t admit to speeding at the speed he told me and he gave me a ticket. now i was wondering if a cop on a motorcycle actually has a radar and if i would have a chance protesting the ticket (its my first one). im also a minor and he told me that i wouldn’t be able to fix it with traffic school. please only answer this question if your a cop, a lawyer, someone who actually knows what there talking about or someone that has been through the same situation as me. i really appreciate your effort, thanks in advance.
The cop also told me that he was PARKED on the side of the road when he "got me on the radar" and i actually asked if i could see any proof of my speed such as the radar itself and he told me he didnt record it or anything so is he lieing?
ok so here are the facts:
1. i asked to see any proof of my speed such as his radar and he told me he didnt have it.
2. i got the ticket which had the speed 90 mph on it
3 i want to protest the ticket but im wondering wether the cop can use the radar as evidence against me seeing as he didnt record my speed on the radar and only put it down on the ticket

now i feel as if the cop actually didnt have a radar and was only saying he did to try to get a confession out of me, which he didn’t get. now im gonna try and protest the ticket but what do you think? will i get out of the ticket due to lack of evidence because the cop didnt record anything on his "radar"? or is his word good enough to the judge that i was going that speed, which i view as completely unfair…

My husband was riding a motorcycle with his friend and they both got exact same speeding ticket, 30 over the speed limit. They were riding in a same lane but not side by side (they were going 90 so riding side by side is not safe). When my husband asked cop which bike did he clocked, cop told him that they were riding side by side, and that’s why they’re getting the same ticket. Oh, and cop gave them that excuse that he pulled them over and giving them a ticket for safety. That’s bunch of bull. Can radar gun clock two motorcycles at the same time? BTW, we live in TX.
BTW, they were by themselves on the road, so no danger to anyone else. My husband owns a radar gun, and we know that it will clock only fastest or the biggest object headed toward you. They are not unsafe riders. Proud to say no accidents, except for colliding with bugs

So i was following a buddy on the highway, and were going along, and my radar dector goes off so i slow down, he does not. He was going 100 mph when he passed the Cop, the cop pulled out started to chase, then about 1/4 mile, he stoped and parked to side of the road, whats the deal?

Arent state police cruisers opposed to be fast? How did I smoke this cruiser without trying on my gsxr 600. I didnt see him there but apperently we started at same spot by stop sign. I go up this striaght and this hill giving it (some) throttle haha. I get back hind this van and like 2 or 3 minutes later this cop caughtes up. Looking like i shot at him lol. I understand that i was going alittle fast (148 roughly) but he didnt even have time to turn on radar or point it lmao i get a warning for speeding he cant prove it good piggy piggy lmao but seroiusly if we started from same point why did it take him like 2 miles to caught up if he has state police cruiser? aernt they fast?
if i know he was coming i would have passed the van and disappeard lol he looked like a dot in my mirror when i looked thought he was just another car or i would have ran him lol

Do you think I have a good chance to fight this ticket?

-I was on a motorcycle, it was 11:00 at night and I passed a car that was driving without its lights on. I was pulled over for going 53 in a 40. Immediatly after passing I slowed down to the speed limit. It was a major artilery road with two lanes on each side and I passed properly on the left (not crossing onto the opposite side) and I used my blinkers.

The cop (who was also on a motorcycle), acknowledeged the car with no lights but said I slowed down because I saw him. He was also on the opposite side of the road when he radar gunned me and had to hop over the street median to pull me over.

What do you guys think? It was in California.

i was driving home from school going 33 in a 25 residential area. on ticket it says 43, but its wrong. anyways. i was driving down a hill at a speed of 33. and i drove down to the bottom to take a right. just then i saw a cop walk out from behind a pickup truck with a radar gun and he came up to me and showed me i was going 43. which is bull sh&*. then i looked down the street and saw two cop motorcycle bikes. I was not the only person he got. It was ridiculous. I’m pretty sure you can’t hide behind a pickup. Imagine if you were going 33 and a cop jumped out of a bush. with a radar gun and wrote you a ticket. Any clarification would help. I’m thinking about contesting this ticket, and if you find clarification please show me where it came from.

2. hammer your an idiot i was going 33, do you understand radar guns, when you go downhill they dont take in the angle, so it appears your going faster

I am looking to spend some extra money i have and i was thinking about getting a radar detector, ive been reading about how they work and stuff but it didn’t really answer the simple question i had…

Do they detect radar / laser / speed traps things like that before you get to them or when its too late?

my dad had one years ago and i thought it would beep by how close the cop was, for example the closer the police car the more solid tone you would hear

Hey, i bought a Valentine One and when i was driving on "A" mode, my radar was detecting only fakes signals, like Ralfs , Mcdonald etc. But when the cop was right in front of me V 1 didnt react. I tried all modes And still , no raction to the cops (and a lot of fakes signals). Does someone knows what heppening with cops radars? And any suggestions?
