97' Toyota 4Runner- Ways to make it last?

I will be a Sr. in high school this yeah and have driven my 97 4Runner for about a year and a half. It has over 233,000 miles on it but so far, the only thing i’ve had to replace are the U-joints. I recently decided to drive this baby until she dies on me. So, with some of my summer job earnings (i don’t work during the school year), I bot some really nice Yokohama Gilander A/T 265- 70- 15’s at 150 bucks a pop. Needles to say, it hurt my bank account pretty bad but these tiers were really my only option in this size (stock on the 4Runner is 223- 75- 15’s so the bigger tiers look really good and big enough to fill up the wheel well). Therefore, I’m looking for ways to make this rig last as long as possible. i will most likely perches a small motorcycle, like a 250 ninja at the end of the summer next year, to stretch the life of my 4Runner a little bit. even then, this thing has a lot of miles on it and even though these vehicles are known for lasting forever, i want to do everything i can to stretch the life as much as possible. oh, it’s pretty much the base model. a 4×2 without SR5 and it has a 2.7L 4 cil. I drive pretty fast (average of 50- 60) and sometimes 80 on I-40 when i’m late for work or school( i have a radar detector) but i am aware of my revs and usually, on take off let it switch into second around 2500 or 3000 if the situation calls for it. I maybe floor it once a week for a quick overtake of a care going the speed limit (I am a safe driver even if i do push the limits and i have never wrecked) oh, and i use high milage non- synthetic oil but I was thinking of switching to synthetic if yall think its worth the extra cash. any ideas would be appreciated! thanks
oh, it’s a VIT 2.7L 4 Cil. if that makes any dif. I guess u could say in cold weather, it smokes significantly for the first 5 mins after starting but then it dwindles down to what i call a normal amount of CO for cold weather. it doesn’t smoke at all in the 60’s and higher. what’s the best way to keep this engine running good and maybe even reduce the cold weather CO?

can i sue the police department for arresting me for a dui charge and then they dismissed my charge in court?

Just like my question asks can I sue them for wrongfully arresting me. The reason why I was arrested was because I failed the tests. I am over weight and told the officer I had balance issues and this is not the first time I have been arrested for the same thing.

I was pulled over because the officer stated that I was speeding, he asked me to get out of my vehicle, he never even asked for my license and registration, the road I was on was very dark and I did not know the area, also I know for a fact that I was going way below the speed limit which where I was the speed limit was 45. He told me I was going 75, I asked him if he used a radar gun he said no, but that he could approximate, Well I know for a fact that I was going moderately slow because I was looking for a street name. The streets with the names on them were dark as well so I was pulling close to each and every one of the streets, due to bad eye sight as well, and even with my glasses I can’t see too far. This happened in the AM hours on labor day weekend 2010.

The officer who pulled me over was a motorcycle cop, when he asked me to get out of my vehicle he automatically had me do a test and before I started the test I was like oh no not again i knew where this was gonna go. When we talked for the first few minutes I was not so nervous I was trying to stay calm. Then once he said to do the sobriety test my legs started to shake. I was so nervous and that is what happened last time, also I deal with anxiety so all the cars that drove by I immediately started to get very nervous cause all that was on my mind was that they were watching.

So I did all the test and even offered to do a breathalyzer test the officer told me no because he thought I was on a drug, he then called another officer who had a patrol car to show up. Which at that very moment I knew they were gonna arrest me. When I was arrested they put me in the back of the cop car and they were talking by the drivers side window, the cop who pulled me over started talking all quietly to the other officer about how his main goal was to pull over as many drivers as possibly for the soul purpose to find a few intoxicated drivers because he was not meeting his quotas for the night. When he brought me to the DUI RV i did more tests and i plainly just felt dumb because everyone else there was drunk and i mean like falling over and slurred speech I had non of those symptoms except for nervousness. after talking with some guy inside the RV the arresting officer was like saying sorry to me, saying that even though he arrested me and it seems like your not on anything as he thought i was when he arrested me he appologized to me and was like I wish I could go back and not have arrested you but hey you can fight this in court. So basically he lied about everything and wasted my time and his. I was disgusted

For speeding ticket..Discovery Request. Can I request the officer's citation records?

the cop was writing another person a ticket and his motorcycle was behind the car.. i was coming down hill on a curved road and he said he caught me on radar. He wasn’t even situated on his bike when i passed him. he was standing behind the other car infront of his motorcycle. He then said he caught me on radar and that i didn’t evn sound like i was going speed limit.

So i wanted to get his citation record to show that he was pulling someone else over at the time. Can i get that in discovery? if so How can i word it in the discovery request?

I.E.- A copy of the officer’s citation record on the date of ##/##/##?

Will that work? ^

I got a ticket which I believe I don't deserve how do i get out of it?

Okay I was coming back from school when supposedly a motorcycle cop saw me running a red light. Where going to call the place where he said he saw me run the red light spot A and where he stopped me spot B. The distance from spot A to B is 3 miles. By the time he stopped me he passed me once before he turn back to get me. When he stopped me he asked me how fast i was going threw the intersection he saw me run the red light (spot A) i answered 50mph (which is the speed limit) on the ticket he approx 65mph which is complete bulls*** i asked him to show me the radar and he said it was a visual approx. Is there anyway to fight this ticket or do you think its a complete waste of time to do so? Or which is the best way to fight it? Should I get a lawyer?

What do people think of the new unconstitutional ruling about street racing/speeding?

my man was recently stopped for speed racing (on the court form) and speeding (on the traffic ticket issued at the same time) and had his motorcycle put "in jail" by the traffic cop and his license suspended for 7 days.
The lady cop told him that if one goes 50km above the speed limit, (which he wasn’t, she didn’t didn’t show him the radar gun readingand it was impossible for the bike to accelerate that quickly in the time frame she said), one is charged with street racing, which has now been deemed "unconstitutional’ in Ontario traffic law.
He has to go to court later in october and the charge will be dismissed although folks are still being charged, having their vehicles and licenses taken away and having to pay the "storage fees’ of having their vehicle in jail at 68.00 per day for 7 days with a 5 minute pick up time, and 150.00 to unsuspend one’s license.
Has anyone here in Ontario had the same experience?
thoughts?
I meant STUNT RIDING.
Yeah ok.
What the thing was.
he wasn’t going 50km above the speed limit.
We SAW the speedometer.
he was going 20 km above, (Not good, I know) however, she charged him with going 50km ABOve, which wasn’t possible considering the properties of the bike. the bike doesn’t have a fareing. There’s no way he could have been doing 150km in a period of 4 seconds.
it was physically impossible for the bike to go that fast.
There were 4 other bikes that were speeding next to us…..anyway, if anyone actually wants TO READ the entire post, (I know it’s looong), I’d REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
Demos.
Thank you!
You were the only one who actually read my question and Yes, just today, courts found that Stunt racing, (I was so excited in writing, i left important details out), had been ruled unconstitutional due to the drivers inability to defend themselves in Ontario courts.
Kinda like here when not one but you will actually look objectively at the facts before judging.
It will be thrown out of court, however the fees incurred by having the bike in jail and the reinstating of the licence is a money grab by the police affiliated vehicle jails under the guise of "towing companies".
Again, you’d make a good lawyer.

Court defense for a speeding ticket Please proof read? Legal advice?

Let’s start with how I got the ticket. It’s a 77 mph in a 40 mph zone. Before you call me ignorant- It went from a 65 to a 40 on a major highway in NH. Also, if you call it reckless driving- the only thing I found OFFICIALLY on the state website was that if the speed is 26+ over you must show in court.

So basically it was a speed trap, and I was hungover early in the morning and not paying attention, going with the flow of traffic when a state policeman walks out into the middle of the highway and flags me down. &%@%~!

Okay, here’s where I stand. I’ve gotten two tickets before, I’m 19. I got probation for my first, then I accidentally voided my probation by getting another ticket, so I got double punishment 20+45 days w/o a license.(this happened over a year ago) Since then I’ve been good, until 2 days ago when I got this. The trooper saw this history and told me to "add it to my record" and walked off, before I could explain my situation to him.

What I’ve learned: NH state police don’t have to worry about not getting paid for court dates, so the trooper is gonna be there. He might ask me what Im going to plea so he can use it against me. It might be "reckless driving". 26mph+ is at least 0 charge. I don’t want a lawyer, but I should have one? I do work with a state trooper as a coach at my DMV, I should go talk to him about it.

So here’s my defense. Also if you have any advice like what to do on the court date (Dec 29, right after Christmas) let me know thanks. This is a rough draft

Defense

First off I would like to thank everyone present for their time they’ve taken to be here.

I am still not familiar with the route I was traveling on given the day I was stopped and summoned on my way to work. In the area where I was stopped the speed limit changes
from 65mph to 40 mph. Before the time of the stop I let off the throttle, decelerating and applied the brake, and was not given sufficient time to decelerate
down to the posted speed limit before the respectful officer signaled me to pull over. Things that attribute to my misunderstanding of the speed limit are
the aspect ratio, or height of the sidewalls of my
tires on my car is 10 millimeters smaller, offsetting my actual speed I recognize on my speedometer. The officer was scanning from
not a fixed position, but using two hands standing near his cruiser. Given my experience in Criminal Justice
as a college student and as a past intern with Pembroke Police, I know that a generic laser radar dector is not
accurate if presented towards an object at an angle beyond a mere eleven degrees. The officer was also standing
facing towards a large bend in the road, scanning my vehicle in the bend next to Exit one on Route 89 East, making my car also traveling at an angle.

I am a criminal justice student at NHTI, past intern with Pembroke Police Department, and work for the Department of Motor Vehicles in
the basic motorcycle rider training program. I need my license for my education, without it I be forced to withdraw from the school.
I am a Motorycle Training Instructor for the state, ID# 134405 I have been with the program for 4 years. As an
instructor my job requires I maintain an active, valid motorcycle and drivers license. I need my license
not only to get myself to school everyday, but I also need it for my two jobs I am maintaining, while in school, in order to
buy a motorcycle for my job as an instructor because I, like many college students, am struggling to get by financially. I attempted to explain my situation,
the same one I’ve presented here, to the officer but he interupted me and told me to "add this one to my collection". I do not have a criminal record.
If there are any additional or different weights that can be added in the abscence of a license suspension I
would be greatfully interested and estatically grateful for, thank you.

pow math help please?

You are a highway patrol officer, seated on a motorcycle, on a curvy section of Highway 1. The posted speed limit is 45 mile per hour on this stretch of highway. You are monitoring traffic with a radar gun. The first exit is 3.6 miles up the road. Your radar picks up a speeding car averaging 68 mph. When you try to start your motorcycle to follow the car, it won’t be able to catch the speeding car before it can turn off the highway. Finally, your motorcycle starts and you begin your pursuit 30 seconds after the speeding car has passed you on the roadside.

How fast do you need to go to catch up to speeding car? What is your average speed in pursuit?.

Thanks.

Is it true that it is only legal for a cop to ticket you after the second speed limit sign? Can I win this?

We live in Boston, MA, and this is the statement I have given my lawyer.

My brother Niko, in his Ford Mustang, and I, in my own vehicle (2007 Crossfire) with my little brother, were driving back from our church basketball league game. It was around 4:35pm on a Sunday and cloudy. I was coming over the hill and saw a police cruiser and police motorcycle parked on the side of the bridge, well out of any radar’s field of view in any direction, that I was coming over, so I put my blinker on, checked my mirror, shoulder-checked, and changed lanes, to give the officers room. I was under the impression that the speed limit was 35 mph, knowing that the opposite side of traffic on the same stretch of Jamaica Plain Way was 35 mph, and seeing a sign further back which stated 35mph as the limit, which is the speed I was travelling. At the most, I could have been going five miles above the speed limit, but that is not likely.
Coming over the top of the hill and continuing down, I saw two State Troopers speaking with a driver of another vehicle parked on the side of the road. One was wearing a bright yellow coat, while the other was in his dark blue uniform. Neither officers had anything in their hands. Both the cruiser and motorcycle were parked on the side of the bridge, where I previously saw them.
The officer in the yellow jacket calmly turned around and proceeded into the closest lane, which my brother was travelling in. He then waved him over to the side of the road, walking into his lane. At the same time, I observed the second uniformed officer strolling through the first lane, and into the lane in which I was travelling. I had to apply my brakes a little harder than usual to avoid striking the officer, since he had strolled into my lane of travel. He waved me over, with me being quite confused and scared, this being the first time I have been pulled over, and having no idea what merited the stop.
One officer approached my brother (the one with the yellow jacket) and stood at his fender on the driver side, while the “blue” officer approached him and asked him for license and registration. After questioning my brother, the officer walks up to me, I roll down my window, and put both hands on my steering wheel, and he asks me for my license and registration. I politely tell him that my license is not on my body, and give him my temporary license, my registration, my full name, and my social security. At some point, I had mentioned that my wallet was in my jeans, along with my license, behind the divider in the trunk area. I just left a basketball game and was wearing my yellow shorts and a simple brown T-shirt, with a black jacket on the outside. The officer asks me how fast I was going, and I responded “The speed limit, but no more than five miles over.” The officer informs me that the limit is not 35, but 25. The officer then proceeds to inquire about the origins of the car, and asks me “Whose car is this?” I tell the officer that it is my car. He then states “that’s not what it says here.” By this point, I was becoming increasingly scared and was very intimidated, but I told the officer “The car is in my father’s name for the cheaper insurance, and the car was a gift to me for high school.” When I had told the officer this, his already stern and gruff attitude had changed to hostile, and he became very belligerent as he further inquired about my vehicle. He asked me in a severe tone if my “daddy” bought me “this nice car,” that “daddy” was probably paying for the insurance, too. He then stated that the car I was driving was too nice for a “kid” my age. During this outburst, I was coming to feel very frightened while I was pulled over, realizing that whatever situation I was in, it had taken a turn for the worse.
While the officer had been questioning my brother (he was pulled over behind me), I had observed more of the same aggressive gestures and body language that was directed towards me. I then saw the “yellow” officer retrieve a radar gun or laser radar gun from his cruiser, and the other officer wave another dark colored car to the side of the road with a malfunctioning taillight, who he spoke to, went to this cruiser to verify information, and promptly let him go. My brother and I were waiting for some time while the officers were pulling other motorists over, letting some of them go ticket-free. Finally, the officer returns to me, reads my citations, and hands me my ticket. I said “Thank you, Officer,” started my car, put on my blinker, checked my mirror, shoulder checked, and merged with traffic.
To reiterate some points, I was going what I thought was the speed limit (which I had wrongfully believed was 35mph), but I was not, in any way, endangering the public, the officers present, myself, or my little brother in the passenger seat. If I was not, the most it could have possibly been was five miles above the limit. The surrounding traffic was doing well in excess of the 25 mph limit, as we
Now, the problem I have is that I was not travelling at 61 mph, nor was I street racing. I was passing my brother at about 40 to 42 mph. Yes, I have admitted to speeding, but I did not do so in such a manner as to endanger the general public, myself, my brothers, or the officers.
So why should I plead guilty to a street racing charge? He never mentioned street racing to me, nor was it stated on my citation. He did, however, write down the provision for street racing on the ticket, but again not informing me.

Can a cop clock two motorcycles not riding side by side at the same time for the exact speed?

My husband was riding a motorcycle with his friend and they both got exact same speeding ticket, 30 over the speed limit. They were riding in a same lane but not side by side (they were going 90 so riding side by side is not safe). When my husband asked cop which bike did he clocked, cop told him that they were riding side by side, and that’s why they’re getting the same ticket. Oh, and cop gave them that excuse that he pulled them over and giving them a ticket for safety. That’s bunch of bull. Can radar gun clock two motorcycles at the same time? BTW, we live in TX.
BTW, they were by themselves on the road, so no danger to anyone else. My husband owns a radar gun, and we know that it will clock only fastest or the biggest object headed toward you. They are not unsafe riders. Proud to say no accidents, except for colliding with bugs :D

Got a ticket passing on the left, do I have a case?

Do you think I have a good chance to fight this ticket?

-I was on a motorcycle, it was 11:00 at night and I passed a car that was driving without its lights on. I was pulled over for going 53 in a 40. Immediatly after passing I slowed down to the speed limit. It was a major artilery road with two lanes on each side and I passed properly on the left (not crossing onto the opposite side) and I used my blinkers.

The cop (who was also on a motorcycle), acknowledeged the car with no lights but said I slowed down because I saw him. He was also on the opposite side of the road when he radar gunned me and had to hop over the street median to pull me over.

What do you guys think? It was in California.

Do anti-photo radar license plate covers work (for motorcycles and cars)?

Hi. I live in Montgomery County, MD and they have recently installed speed and red light cameras here. I drive a motorcycle (Honda CBR) and a car (Corolla) and was wondering if anti-photo radar license plate covers (the kind that block cameras from seeing the plate from an angle, not the kind that make the entire plate blurry always, as that will get me pulled over) work? I know there’s Photoblocker spray you can put on your license plate but it’s my understanding that that ONLY works if there was a flash on the camera, which there won’t be during the daytime. If they do work can you recommend a certian one or do they all work the same? If they don’t is there anything else you can recommend (other than slowing down)? Price is not a concern as long as it’s reasonable (0 or less) Any and all valid information is greatly appriciated!
Is there any other way to avoid you pic getting taken? I’m thinking for the motorcycle that i could have something I could easily cover up my plate w/ when i go thru camera areas that i could kindof explain if i get caught coving it (like a sweatshirt hanging off the back that covered it or something)? It’s so annoying slowing down to 35mph every time.
Also, if there a website or something where it tells where all the speed cameras are placed in Montgomery County, MD? I see signs on the speed limit that they are there but i dont even know what they look like? Can someone describe them or give a link to a pic? Thanks!
